The season one finale of Disney’s Loki hit Netflix last weekend. It was the first episode of the series and it was a blast! If you haven’t seen it yet, I’d highly recommend it. The season’s dramatic themes and topics are discussed below.
The LOKI (Legendary Outlaw Kin) season 1 finale has finally hit Netflix and like every other episode, it was great. It was also a little on the short side. It was a good setup for the second season that should be out soon, but I’m hoping the next season is a bit longer. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for any news about a season 2 release. Make sure to keep in touch with the LOKI blog to keep up with what’s going on with the show.
Disney’s LOKI SEASON 1 FINALE REVIEW »
That was quite a climax, wasn’t it? Loki has set the tone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and boy, am I excited for the upcoming Spider-Man, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange flicks because it’s multiverse time!
An other version of Loki is transported to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic agency that exists outside of time and space that oversees the chronology, after stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019). They give Loki the option of being deleted from existence owing to his status as a “time-variant,” or helping to correct the timeline and avert a larger threat. Loki becomes entrapped in his own time-traveling crime thriller. That is the basis of this show, and it has opened so many doors.
I’m highly interested in Loki’s development. Being betrayed one last time by someone like Sylvie is going to have a big impact on him, and I’m forward to watch how that plays out. Maybe it’s just me, but no matter how many times this series attempts to convince me differently, I can’t picture Loki as a decent guy. That just doesn’t work for me, like Thanos turning good in the end. Loki, I’m sorry! However, you are more than free to disprove my assertion.
I have to confess, Loki was a bit of a rollercoaster ride for me. There were some episodes that I really liked, such as episodes 1 and 2, but others didn’t quite hold my attention or live up to the hype created by the preceding episode. Loki, on the other hand, had been a lot of fun to watch. Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino were outstanding in this series, delivering and dominating every scene they appeared in. It’s a well-written story about self-acceptance and living with self-hatred. I’m beginning to see what Marvel is trying to do with all of these series. In any case, every episode hinted to Kang’s impending arrival. Kang is a character I’ve heard of and seen before, but I can’t recall anything remarkable he’s done. Which only adds to the intrigue of seeing what they do with the character. He may not be Thanos, but if well-written, he may be just as lethal.
To be honest, Jonathan Majors as “Kang” or “He Who Remains” wasn’t my cup of tea! I was captivated by his dialogue after a few seconds, and it was difficult to tell if he was lying or not, but after weeks of building up this mystery awful guy pulling the strings, I wasn’t anticipating a “energetic joyous” guy. Knowing that he’s simply one of many Knags gives me optimism that we’ll see a more serious and terrifying Kang show off his real prowess across the multiverse. With the hint of a multiverse conflict, this opens the door for the likes of Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man, and a slew of other well-known and iconic characters to return, while the actors who played them are replaced. Yes, as much as I’d like to see Robert Doweney Jr reprise his role as Iron Man, I doubt he’d want to. Then there are the X-Men and Fantastic Four, who have gone missing and are expected to return. There are so many possibilities for epic, hypothetical “hidden wars”!
Overall, I’d say Loki accomplished what it set out to do: create an engaging story with a million doors opening up to unlimited possibilities.
