Dyson’s V12™ is a floor-to-ceiling, laser-powered vacuum cleaner that automatically detects when it’s running over people or other items, and then uses a series of laser sensors to warn you before it sucks up your expensive furniture and cat. But there’s more: You can even set it to automatically lower once you’ve finished cleaning, so that it won’t suck up your carpet—or your kids’ dreams—again.

V12 Detect Slim is the first vacuum to use laser technology to detect the amount of room you have to clean, and automatically adjust the suction to ensure that you can clean every sq ft of your home. (No more worrying about how much dust and debris you have missed on your last sweep.) V12 Detect Slim also features a camera system that works in the same way as the lenses in smartphones and tablets, and will automatically start recording video as soon as you start to vacuum.

Dyson announced its newest vacuum cleaner, the V12 Dynamic Slim, which has the first 3D laser-sensor built into the vacuum to detect the size and shape of the space it’s in, which assists the vacuum in automatically adjusting its suction power based on the degree of filth.

Dyson recently announced two new vacuums, the Micro and Omniglide+, to add to their existing range, giving customers the opportunity to select depending on their budget. This month, we have a vacuum that isn’t replacing any, but it is elevating the cleaning experience by allowing consumers to see what has been hiding in plain sight – meet the Slim Dyson V12 Detect, the first vacuum with Laser Detect Technology, which is now available in Malaysia, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

Dyson V12 Detect Slim

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim is the younger sibling of the V15 Detect, which is only available in a few countries, although it has a lot of the same internal components. The Dyson V12 Detect Slim, on the other hand, is much more intelligent in every aspect.

Dust Detection Using Lasers

First, there’s the Laser Dust Detection. When the Dyson Engineer observed how the airborne particles in their house glistened in the light, he came up with this technique and concept. So, after a slew of tests, this specific answer came to fruition. These vacuums use modified laser technology to expose buried dust by incorporating a diode laser inside the cleaner head and placing it at a precise 1.5-degree angle and 7.3mm above the ground, which offers the greatest contrast into the cleaner’s head. As a result, the buried dust on the floor surface, which is normally undetectable to the human eye, is revealed by this laser.

Microparticle Detection using a Piezo Sensor

Aside from detection, Dyson went so far as to include an Acoustic Piezo Sensor in the system – and it just gets more intriguing from there. These dusts are often too tiny to be measured adequately since they are smaller than what we can see – so small that they need a microscope to see. As a result, tiny particles are detected up to 15,000 times per second when the carbon fiber filaments on the cleaner head suck.

The dust enters the vacuum and collides with the acoustic piezo sensor inside the bin intake, causing small vibrations that are translated to electrical impulses. These electrical impulses are then outputted via the Dyson V12 Detect’s new digital display on the top of the vacuum, which displays the various sizes of particles collected and also serves as evidence that the vacuum is capable of deep cleaning.

Hair Screw Tool to Prevent Tangles

If you recall, when we vacuum, the cleaner heads become caught in the head and are difficult to clean, regardless of which vacuum we use. As a result, Dyson went back to the drawing board to design a new anti-tangle conical brush bar that spirals hair into the trash rather of wrapping it around the brush bar. They tested not just with human hair, but also with pet hair, since dogs shed a lot – so the whole tool has been modified with the exact angle of the bristles on the tool, so it doesn’t tangle regardless of hair type.

HEPA Filtration Upgrade

They’ve improved the filtration technology to 5-stage advanced filtration, which catches 99.99% of particles as tiny as 0.3 microns and only emits clean air. As we’ve seen with other Dyson products, the Dyson Cyclone technology is effective in removing dust and debris from surfaces. So don’t worry about any of the particle-contained air seeping out.

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim vacuum uses the latest Dyson Hyperdymium motor, which generates up to 150 air watts of powerful suction, a good 60-minute cleaning hours with a fully charged battery, weighs just 2.2kg, and ditches the trigger-based power control for a single “big red button” for an easy and comfortable user experience.

Dyson V12 Slim Variants Detection

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim is now available in three distinct versions for customers to choose from: Fluffy, Total Clean, and Absolute Extra (which is quite extra, actually). Now, all three vacuums described above function similarly; in fact, everything is pretty much the same – the only difference is the tools. We’ve put up a chart below that shows which Dyson V12 Detect Slim will come with various tools.

Technically, it’s a package option, which is a nice thing, but keep in mind that Dyson says the Floor Dock won’t be available separately, but you can get a Spare Battery. Something to keep in mind.

Availability and Pricing

The Fluffy Dyson V12 Detect Slim is priced at RM 2999, followed by the Total Clean at RM 3299, and the Absolute Extra at RM 3899. But, regardless of whatever version you buy, the experience is well worth it, and the Laser System, which is the product’s main feature, comes included with all variants. Starting today, August 24th, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim is available for purchase on Dyson.com or at Dyson Stores in Malaysia.

For the time being, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Fluffy is available, while the Total Clean and Absolute Extra will be available at a later date, which we will inform you of.
