The major release of Microsoft Teams, the instant messaging client for Office 365, has just arrived. This latest version of Teams is marked by a number of new features, especially around Teams’ cross-platform capabilities, and the ability to design and present multi-user rooms and activities. The new features that are most likely to interest the average Office 365 user are the ability to create new channels and activities from within Teams, and the support for indexing and searching documents from within the app.

Microsoft Teams, Fluid, and Viva all received major improvements since last month, but it’s worth noting that each of them is better than before. Teams, which is Microsoft’s Slack competitor, is now available on iPhone and iPad, and it also has great new features. Fluid, Microsoft’s communications app for individuals and teams, now supports multiple-user chat sessions and video calls for up to five people, so it’s great for small teams. Lastly, Viva is a secure messaging app that uses end-to-end encryption, which makes it a great way to communicate.

The Covid 19 pandemic has affected many businesses. Thus, the methods of virtual communication and collaboration have evolved greatly since the beginning of the situation.

Microsoft continues to improve Teams

Today, Microsoft announced some enhancements to Teams Meetings and Microsoft Teams Rooms, designed to create an engaging experience for all participants. Hybrid work is the biggest change in the way we work in a generation. Today we’re announcing new features in Teams and Microsoft 365 that aim to level the playing field for all employees, whether they’re on the road or working in the office. https://t.co/rZTHXr8SK0. – Satya Nadella (@satyanadella) June 17, 2023 The tech giant also revealed that it will introduce the first row of Teams Rooms later this year, which is a more immersive room layout. This makes the interaction more natural and gives all participants in the room a greater sense of connection with those at a distance. Microsoft Teams plays a crucial role in realizing this vision of a more agile workplace. Teams is unique because it combines meetings, chats, conversations, collaboration and business process automation in a single application. The video gallery has also been moved to the bottom of the screen, allowing remote participants to be face-to-face with the people in the room. To ensure that all participants remain focused on the task at hand, the meeting content is enriched with contextual information about the meeting, such as the meeting agenda. As we wrote in a previous article, Microsoft will introduce chat bubbles in addition to increasing the size of the video participant grid when using the classic video grid layout.

Microsoft is creating a new whiteboard experience

In an effort to enable all remote participants to initiate and moderate their own whiteboarding sessions, Microsoft is offering a brand new hybrid whiteboarding experience. This feature allows all participants to collaborate visually on a digital canvas. The technology company also says that starting this summer, these new features will allow users to bring existing content into Whiteboard for co-creation. In addition, it is important to note that the new models help groups to start brainstorming and thus be better able to keep co-authors and other partners in mind. Microsoft is also introducing new PowerPoint Live features that create a shared space for collaboration and contributions from all meeting participants. As you may recall, Microsoft recently talked about its new Fluid components that create live collaboration experiences that can be edited and shared in real time across Teams and Office applications. As of today, the Redmond-based company announces the addition of Fluid components for Teams, OneNote, Outlook and Whiteboard Meetings. They hope this initiative will simplify synchronous and asynchronous collaboration in Teams and Office applications. Was this page helpful? Thank you. Not enough details.
